Looks like Paul McCartney is planning South American shows

It looks like Paul McCartney is planning to return to South America this year. Writer Mario Adolfo reported today (and relayed to us by Elio Sant’Anna) that plans are in the works for Paul McCartney to perform in Brazil in October in Manaus. Adolfo also reported that El Globo reporter Ancelmo Gois has written that Paul will perform in Brazil for the 50th anniversary of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.” The city of Salvador has been mentioned as a possible site. Sant’Anna also tells us a third city, Curitiba, has been mentioned. Paul’s reps have been seen in Brazil. McCartney has only announced shows in Japan so far. Stay tuned.

RIP David Peel

Update: Please read my article on David Peel (much longer) for Billboard about David Peel: www.billboard.com/articles/news/obituary/7752422/david-peel-dead
Word from his friend, former bandmate (and Applelog author) Jeff S. Levy that David Peel passed away today.
Levy wrote, “My own artistic growth, musically and otherwise, could not have taken on the shape it has had I not met David Peel. He had been a direct and wonderful assault on my senses. I can’t thank him enough. I wouldn’t know where to begin.”
Our condolences to his family and friends.
(Note: A false report circulated Wednesday on Facebook. This is not that false report and comes directly from a close friend.)
